this series, painted in oil on wood in summer of 2020, focuses on the culturally accepted definition of value and beauty. just as there is an accepted belief that weeds aren’t as valuable as flowers, so do we often devalue our own worth and beauty based on culturally accepted definitions. as a child growing up in Nashville TN, tetra had a deep fondness for the small delicate weeds that sprout up in the summer in nashville yards and forests. this series is a celebration of the beauty that is often overlooked and underappreciated.
